Recognized as one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country, the Basilica of Saint Mary was constructed between 1907 and 1915. It's also the first Basilica in the United States, honored by Pope Pius XI in 1926 and it has also been named to the National Register of Historic Places. [Close]

The Basilica of Saint Mary is a community rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Co-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis,
it is our mandate to model, to inspire and to:
- Provide excellence in liturgy, faith formation, pastoral care, and hospitality
- Preach justice and provide emergency relief to the poor
- Pursue interfaith relationships
- Contribute to the celebration of the sacred arts in this community
