It's also the first Basilica in the United States, honored by Pope Pius XI in 1926 and it has also been named to the National Register of Historic Places. [Close]

The Basilica of Saint Mary is a community rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Co-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis,
it is our mandate to model, to inspire and to:
- Provide excellence in liturgy, faith formation, pastoral care, and hospitality
- Preach justice and provide emergency relief to the poor
- Pursue interfaith relationships
- Contribute to the celebration of the sacred arts in this community
