Basilica Choir Camp Partners with the Northside Churches

Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2.
Basilica of St. Mary, 88 North 17th Street
Choir Camp for students grades 3-8 will be held at The Basilica.  Participants will have the opportunity to perform music from around the world, in diverse languages.

The week will end with performances at the Ascension, on Friday, August 2. at 11:30am.  A light lunch will serve following the performance.  Performances are open to families and the public.

Cathedral Choristers

Fourth-eighth (unchanged voice) graders sing at different times throughout the liturgical year. Choristers are limited to 40 members and rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:45pm-7:00pm. In addition to learning choral repertoire and the basics of singing, members of this choir are introduced to the rich liturgical tradition of the Catholic Church. They sing once a month with The Basilica Cathedral Choir and once a month as leaders of the liturgy, and at Christmas and Easter. 

The 2012-12 season begins with rehearsal on Wednesday, September 5. Voice checks are required and will be held in August in the Saint Cecilia Room. Choristers rehearse from 5:45-7:00pm on Wednesday evenings during the school year. Contact Teri Larson to schedule a voice check. There is a tuition of $55.00 per semester. Scholarships available. Cathedral Children's Choir

In order to provide early musical and liturgical exposure to first through third graders, the Cathedral Children's Choir holds regular Wednesday rehearsals and sings for a number of liturgies throughout the year. Children learn good singing technique and liturgical participation, and sing for mass approximately every other month. Choir rehearses Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm.

The 2012-13 season begins with rehearsal on Wednesday, September 5. There is a tuition of $50.00 per season.  Scholarships available. No audition, but voice check required. For more information, contact Teri Larson.

Cherub Choir

Based on the Kindermusik method this choir welcomes children ages Pre-K through K. Children explore musical concepts through movement, Orff instruments and singing. Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00pm in the School Choir Room, and parent involvement is encouraged.

The 2012-13 season begins with rehearsal on Wednesday, September 5. There is a tuition of $50.00 per season. Scholarships available. No audition necessary. For more information, contact Teri Larson.

JUNIOR CANTOR MINISTRY

By audition or selection, young singers can participate in this ministry. Training is geared to each level of singer until they are ready to cantor or psalm on their own. Wednesday rehearsal from 6:00-7:00pm is mandatory prior to the liturgy junior cantors are scheduled to sing. For more information, contact Teri Larson.

Juventus

Basilica Youth Ensemble for youth grades 8 and up, leads music twice a month at the 4:30pm Sunday Mass, (September through May) and once a month during the summer. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:15pm.

The 2012-13 season begins with rehearsal on Wednesday, September 12. Placement for instrumentalists and singers by audition or appointment. Contact Walter Tambor to schedule a simple audition.
