Financial Update
Fear about the future is understandable, but at The Basilica, our community is here to offer hope and help. Have you been directly impacted? Know that you are not alone. Here are some ways we may be able to help:
1. Confidential St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) support is available for our parishioners. For details, contact Janice Andersen.
2. The Basilica’s Employment Ministry assists job seekers by offering regular presentations on hot topics.
3. Come for emotional and spiritual support at weekend worship. Also take part in the many free opportunities including Concerts, Art Exhibits, Vespers, Taizé Prayer, and more.
As a community, The Basilica is weighing how to plan for the future. This spring our Budget and Finance Committees will evaluate our finances and make recommendations for The Basilica’s 2009-10 budget. The choices ahead aren’t easy. If you aren’t in a position to help financially, we understand. Three ways you can make a difference and support The Basilica.
1. Have you made your financial stewardship pledge for 2012? If you have already pledged and give to support The Basilica, thank you. But if you haven’t made a financial commitment and are in a position to give, please make a pledge. Can you give $1 or $5 per week? If you are blessed with abundance, we need your financial help now more than ever.
2. Do you buy gas and groceries? Stop for coffee at Starbucks? Lunch at Chipotle, shop at Barnes and Noble or Macy’s? You can help The Basilica when you shop. Make it a habit and purchase Scrip Cards for your favorite vendors. The Basilica buys Scrip cards at a discount, and sells them to you for 100% of their value with proceeds directed to The Basilica.
3. Are you a Basilica volunteer? If you already volunteer, thank you! If you haven’t joined in, we need regular volunteers weekdays, evenings, and Sundays. If you can make a regular weekly commitment, please contact Sally Carlson Bancroft.
Rooted in our Catholic faith as a community working together, we will navigate these uncertain times and help each other along the way.
