Loaves and FishesLooking for a way to make a difference in the lives of our hungry neighbors? In partnership with the local non-profit “Loaves and Fishes”, the Basilica funds, cooks and serves one meal each month on the fourth Friday. Location varies between even and odd numbered months:
Higher Ground Shelter MealBasilica volunteers cook and serve a hot meal for 200 people six evenings each month at Higher Ground, a downtown Minneapolis shelter for men. Sandwich MinistryEach day the rectory is open, sandwiches and coffee are offered to visitors who are hungry, often neighbors who are homeless and staying in shelters or camps by The Basilica. Help prepare sandwiches for our guests, with the Wednesday morning team or at home. Opportunity Center MealBasilica volunteers pick up food and prepare and serve a hot meal for 200-250 people on the second and fourth Saturdays each month at Catholic Charities Opportunity Center (formerly Branch III) on the corner of 17th and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. |
