Novena Day 2

Day Two
A Prayer for Unity and Harmony
St. Francis, Promotor of Harmony and Peace, Pray for Us!

Through the intercession of Saint Francis, who lived by the truth that all of us are sisters and brothers, we pray for unity and harmony among all people regardless of race, creed, ethnicity and way of life.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

A Reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans (15:5-6)

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony* with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Word of the Lord.

Please observe a moment of silent reflection…

Let us pray:
Ever-loving God,
fount of harmony and source of unity,
we ask for the grace to face the sin and evil of racism prevalent in our society;
we beg for mercy and forgiveness for the harm we have done,
we implore that you open our hearts and minds to ways that will bring about justice, equality, healing, harmony and peace for all,
and we pray for the conversion of heart of all those who perpetuate fear, promote supremacy and cultivate hatred.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And as we continue our journey toward Election Day,let us pray:
All-powerful God,
inspire us to be faithful followers of Jesus,
send down your Holy Spirit to form our conscience,
and grant us the wisdom and strength to always act according to your will.
Give us the courage to build bridges where walls have divided,
bestow on us the grace  to bind all wounds of fear and anger,
and weave us together into the people you call your own.
Bless us with leaders who speak the truth and who act with justice,
bless us with leaders who are filled with wisdom and who govern with compassion,
and bless us with leaders who are committed to the common good and the healing of our broken world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Through the intercession of St. Francis may we be inspired to speak and act in ways that bring about harmony and unity.

St. Francis, pray for us.

May the Lord bless + us
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
