Novena Day 5

Day Five
For immigrants, migrants and asylum seekers
(St. Frances Cabrini)
Through the intercession of Saint Frances Cabrini, an immigrant herself who cared for other immigrants, we pray for all people who have left their home, their family and their native land in search of a better life in our country.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
A Reading from the Book of Leviticus (19:33-34)
When an alien resides with you in your land, do not mistreat such a one. You shall treat the alien who resides with you no differently than the natives born among you; you shall love the alien as yourself; for you too were once aliens in the land of Egypt. I, the LORD, am your God.
The Word of the Lord.
Please observe a moment of silent reflection…
Let us pray:
Ever-loving God,
support of strangers and refuge for travelers,
we pray for all people who call this country their home,
for the first nations, the original inhabitants of this land,
for the descendants of those who were forcibly brought here,
for the descendants of those who came here by choice or necessity.
We also pray for those who hope to make this land their new home,
for immigrants, migrants and asylum seekers,
for just laws, respectful treatment at our boarders and welcoming communities.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
And as we continue our journey toward Election Day,let us pray:
All-powerful God,
inspire us to be faithful followers of Jesus,
send down your Holy Spirit to form our conscience,
and grant us the wisdom and strength to always act according to your will.
Give us the courage to build bridges where walls have divided,
bestow on us the grace  to bind all wounds of fear and anger,
and weave us together into the people you call your own.
Bless us with leaders who speak the truth and who act with justice,
bless us with leaders who are filled with wisdom and who govern with compassion,
and bless us with leaders who are committed to the common good and the healing of our broken world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Through the intercession of Saint Frances Cabrini, may we be inspired to speak and act in ways that foster mercy and support for all those who left their homeland in search for a better life.
Saint Frances Cabrini, pray for us.
May the Lord bless + us
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
