Novena Day 7

Day Seven
For those who are unemployed and under-employed
(St. Cajetan)
Through the intercession of Saint Cajetan, Patron Saint of the unemployed we pray for all people who have no job, who are under-employed or who have to work more than one job to make ends meet.
In the name of the Father
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
A Reading from the Book of Leviticus (25:35-36)
If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you.
The Word of the Lord.
Please observe a moment of silent reflection…
Let us pray:
Ever-loving God,
Protector of those in need and guide to those who are lost,
let us not be afraid to defend the weak, out of fear of the strong,
let us not be afraid to defend the poor, out of fear of the rich,
let us not be afraid to defend the powerless, out of fear of the powerful.
Open our eyes so we may see the needs of others;
open our ears so we may hear the cries of those in hardship;
and open our heart and hands so we may support them in word and deed.
Be near to for those who are economically vulnerable and politically weak,
grant them a their fair share in our nation’s wealth and power,
assure them meaningful and sustaining work,
and move us to provide generous assistance when needed.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
And as we continue our journey toward Election Day,let us pray:
All-powerful God,
inspire us to be faithful followers of Jesus,
send down your Holy Spirit to form our conscience,
and grant us the wisdom and strength to always act according to your will.
Give us the courage to build bridges where walls have divided,
bestow on us the grace  to bind all wounds of fear and anger,
and weave us together into the people you call your own.
Bless us with leaders who speak the truth and who act with justice,
bless us with leaders who are filled with wisdom and who govern with compassion,
and bless us with leaders who are committed to the common good and the healing of our broken world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Through the intercession of Saint Cajetan, Patron Saint of the unemployed may we be inspired to speak and act on behalf of all those who are in need.
Saint Cajetan, Pray for us.
May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil
and lead us to everlasting life.
