Novena Day 9

Day Nine
For all people in our nation
Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us.

Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States we pray for all people in our nation.

In the name of the Father
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (5:1-48)
When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
The Gospel of the Lord.

Please observe a moment of silent reflection…

Let us pray:
Ever-living God,
you fashioned us in your image
and tasked us with the care of creation,
we ask
for endurance as we struggle for a society built on truth, and freed from all lies,
for perseverance as we work toward a world united by love, not divided by hatred,
and for resilience as we strive for a community beaming with hope and light, lifted out of darkness and despair.
Give us loving hearts that respect and uplift the humanity and dignity of every person,
open minds that listen and learn from the experiences of people who are oppressed,
and tireless hands that work for equity and inclusion for all people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And as we continue our journey toward Election Day, let us pray:
All-powerful God,
inspire us to be faithful followers of Jesus,
send down your Holy Spirit to form our conscience,
and grant us the wisdom and strength to always act according to your will.
Give us the courage to build bridges where walls have divided,
bestow on us the grace  to bind all wounds of fear and anger,
and weave us together into the people you call your own.
Bless us with leaders who speak the truth and who act with justice,
bless us with leaders who are filled with wisdom and who govern with compassion,
and bless us with leaders who are committed to the common good and the healing of our broken world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States may we be inspired to speak and act in ways that bring about the world as You had envisioned it to be.

Our Lady of Guadalupe and our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us.

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
