Octave Day 4

Day Four:
For Justice and Equality for all

St. Martin de Pores, Patron Saint of Racial Harmony, Pray for Us.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespasses against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord I with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

A Reading from the Letter to the Galatians (3:27-29)
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendant, heirs according to the promise.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Please observe a moment of silent reflection…

Let us pray for justice and equality for all:

Ever-living God,
Source of all love and mercy,
Strip away all pride and suspicion so we may embrace all with justice and peace.
Strengthen our hearts so they may beat only to the rhythm of your mercy.
And flood us with your love so that in turn we may show nothing but love to others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And let us pray for our newly elected officials and all people in our nation:

All-powerful God,
bless our newly elected officials:
with a firm dedication to speak the truth and to act with justice,
with compassion and mercy in the way they govern,
with respect for our ailing world,
with wisdom as they navigate the turbulent international political waters
with an unwavering commitment to heal our divided nation.
And bless all people in our nation
with the grace to embrace this healing
and work fervently toward the common good.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
