Octave Day 6

Day Six:
For Peace in our World, our Country, our Cities and Our homes

St. Oliver, Patron Saint of Peace and Reconciliation, Pray for Us.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespasses against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord I with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

A Reading from the Book of the prophet Isaiah (9: 1, 5-6)

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.
His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, upon David’s throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice, both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Please observe a moment of silent reflection…

Let us pray for unity, peace and reconciliation:

God of everlasting peace,
in your wisdom you have fashioned the human family
in a variety of races, languages, and cultures.
Do not let our diversity be a source of division,
but fashion us into the one colorful human tapestry you imagined.
As we strive for a better world, we ask that you
forgive us for wrongs we did to others,
grant us the grace to forgive and to seek forgiveness,
and bring healing to any relationships that are strained or broken.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And let us pray for our newly elected officials and all people in our nation:

All-powerful God,
bless our newly elected officials:
with a firm dedication to speak the truth and to act with justice,
with compassion and mercy in the way they govern,
with respect for our ailing world,
with wisdom as they navigate the turbulent international political waters
with an unwavering commitment to heal our divided nation.
And bless all people in our nation
with the grace to embrace this healing
and work fervently toward the common good.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
