Octave Day 7

Day Seven:
For the Welfare of all Nations

St. Michael, Guardian of all Nations and Peoples, Pray for Us.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespasses against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord I with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles (17: 24-28)

The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands because he needs anything. Rather it is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything. He made from one the whole human race to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the ordered seasons and the boundaries of their regions, so that people might seek God, even perhaps grope for him and find him, though indeed he is not far from any one of us. For ‘In him we live and move and have our being,’ as even some of your poets have said, ‘For we too are his offspring.’
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Please observe a moment of silent reflection…

Let us pray for the welfare of all nations:

God of all nations,
motivate those in authority,
to gather and unite the family of nations,
so divided and separated.
Inspire them to fight the sin of nationalism and indifference,
to love the common good,
and to advance those who are most in need.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And let us pray for our newly elected officials and all people in our nation:

All-powerful God,
bless our newly elected officials:
with a firm dedication to speak the truth and to act with justice,
with compassion and mercy in the way they govern,
with respect for our ailing world,
with wisdom as they navigate the turbulent international political waters
with an unwavering commitment to heal our divided nation.
And bless all people in our nation
with the grace to embrace this healing
and work fervently toward the common good.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
