“Love begins by taking care of the closest ones—the ones at home.” –Mother Teresa
Are you a caregiver for someone you love now, or have you filled that role at anytime in the past? So often all your energy goes into meeting every need of your loved one—physical, emotional, and spiritual—at the risk of losing yourself in the process. Join Basilica parishioner Patricia Hoolihan, author of the book Hands and Heart Together: Daily Meditations for Caregivers, as she reads excerpts from her book, the exact book she wishes she had had when she was caring for her elderly loved ones in their last months and years. Our time together will open up the possibility of story sharing among those gathered, as well as reflecting upon and writing some of your own experience, as we seek to capture the tender as well as the challenging moments. Our hope is that we will find support for this role that is our calling but also utterly demanding. Patricia will facilitate this conversation over Zoom on Saturday, March 13 from 10:00–11:30am Central Time. The cost is $20 and includes a copy of her book, which will be mailed to you.
Registration for this event required.
