Mary’s Pence was founded on Catholic Social Teaching values 30 years ago when Catholic women found it difficult to fund their ministries. They have been funding women across the Americas ever since.

In the U.S. and Canada, they provide grants and capacity building to the women in the trenches working for justice in their communities. Last year they received the Responsive Philanthropy Award from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits for this work. In Central America and Mexico, they fund women through long term partnerships with local women’s groups to create locally owned community lending pools so women can invest in their businesses. Mary’s Pence focuses on strengthening local groups through leadership development, operations support, and emotional wellness workshops. Partners are in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and in Mexico.
