Mental Health First Aid for Adults is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illness. Participants discuss signs and symptoms, learn the risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, get information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and addiction disorders; pratice a five-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or in crisis, and learn where to turn for help through professional, peer, and self-help resources. A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the class to all participants. Lunch will be provided.
Maximum capacity: 50 participants
Program is free for registered participants. Registration deadline is March 23, 2019.
