Saint John's Theology Day: Being Church in a Secular Age

Thursday, March 30, 2017 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

We are delighted to welcome back Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary for their Theology Day discussions.

What is the church’s place in an increasingly secular, pluralistic society? Is it our mission to be in control as a way to advance the kingdom of God?  If not, how do we bring about just, humane structures and politics in society?

To address such questions  Dr. William Cahoy will engage us in a theological reflection on power and its relation to love an d control. Our reflection will be informed by the character of God’s power as revealed in Scripture and the person of Christ. We also will consider writings from Vatican II, the example of Pope Francis, and the exercise of power in the church.

Registration is required.  There is no fee to attend, but gifts to support the school’s mission and the continuation of Theology Days are gratefully accepted.
