Skills of Support: Stories of Grief, Hope and Connection

Saturday, May 4, 2019 - 8:30am to 12:00pm

Gather with us for a morning of reflection with volunteer ministers who offer support to, and accompany others throughout the Christian Life Department.

Anecdotal stories and research concur that support is essential for healthy coping. People do better when supported. Tangible acts, words and deeds, AND the perception that support will be present are all key components of our ministries at The Basilica.

In this morning of reflection, participants will explore many ways support is provided through accompaniment ministries at The Basilica.  The links of grief and hope will be shown through stories and discussion.

Our interactive conversation will be led by Ted Bowman, a top notch Grief Educator who is relaxed, humble, and offers years of professional and life experience in his stories as he asks us to consider our own.  It promises to be a morning well spent!

Invited Basilica ministries include: Emmaus Listening Ministers, Grief Ministers, Homebound Communion Ministers, SVdP Outreach and Shoe Ministers, MCTC mentors, Disability Awareness Ministry, Mental Health Ministry, Employment Ministry, and Circle of Welcome teams.  The day is being sponsored by The Basilica’s Emmaus Listening Ministry.
