A child's summer break is usually characterized by fun, sun, and pure bliss. But for some who live in unstable food environments, summer is also a time of uncertainty. Children face limited access to free or reduced price lunches and resources to bridge the hunger gap at home.
This situation is prevalent for children attending school at our sister parish, the Church of the Ascension, in North Minneapolis. Help us help them! Join us on Sunday, April 30, after all Masses for a Summer Snack Pack event. Volunteers - young and old - will pack snack packs for scholars attending Ascension's Summer SLAM (Science, Language, Arts, and Math) program, helping bridge hunger gaps over the summer break.
These one-hour volunteer shifts are family friendly and a great way to include even the youngest volunteer. Logistics and coordination volunteers are also needed. Please register.
