Unmasking Brain Injury in Minnesota
Exhibition: May 4-June 9, 2019
Reception: Sunday, May 19, 1:30PM
Unmasking Film: June 4, 6:30 pm (doors open at 6:00pm)
Each mask in this show was created by Minnesotans who have brain injuries, their families, and people who work with them. This community-based art project gave survivors and caregivers a voice to illuminate their lives. Experience a one-of-a kind exhibition of the lives behind the masks of disability. Sponsored by the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance and The Basilica Disability Awareness Ministry.
Unmasking, a film by Jed Schlegelmilch documents the creation of over 1,400 works of art made by people who are affected by brain injury. Mr. Schlegelmilch will be on hand to answer questions about the film as well as representatives from The Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. Following the film there will be an opportunity to view the exhibition in the gallery.
