Valletta - City and People
A Retrospective Photographic Study
Exhibition: August 23 – September 30
Artist Reception: Thursday, August 23, 6:00pm
To reflect on Valletta as a city, Stephen Busuttil has created a photographic retrospective of the capital of Malta in the 21st century, looking at how the city has changed between 2008 and 2018. Busuttil depicts how the city of Valletta and its people have changed religiously, culturally and socially in response to tourism and globalization. Valletta was recently named the European Capital of Culture, which aims to promote the cultural, social and economic regeneration in Valletta and the Maltese Islands through collaboration, exchange and innovative practice. This exhibition was curated by Daniel K. Gullo and Tim Ternes of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library at Saint John’s University.
